An artificial grass playing field: ideal playing conditions in both wet and dry weather.
Artificial grass sports fields are becoming increasingly important in urban areas, but in summer, these fields often get very warm and during heavy rainfall the water from these large areas can overload the surrounding sewage system. The perfect artificial grass playing field must have comparable playing characteristics to natural grass. Water is the basis of natural grass which, amongst other things, determines energy absorption and restitution. With all the developments in non-plastic infill, circularity, heat stress in urban areas and flooding during peak downpours, we must look to artificial grass as a comparable solution.
BlueLay is a stone wool water buffer which has been developed for artificial grass sports fields. The stone wool ensures the correct pressure distribution, as a result of which it can be installed directly beneath the grass mat. The retained water ensures energy absorption and restitution that is comparable to the functionality of water in natural grass. Contact between the surface and a capillary infill allows evaporation to take place, which ensures a significant reduction in the temperature of the grass mat and its immediate surroundings. BlueLay complies with the required standards and creates ideal playing conditions in both wet and dry weather.
