How sustainable is stone wool for water management?
Stone wool is a natural product made primarily from the volcanic rock basalt. The sustainable raw material basalt comes directly from our earth and is almost inexhaustible: every year the earth produces 38,000 times more basalt than ROCKWOOL uses for the production of stone wool. But what is also important is the design of the hi-tech production process, which ensures that ROCKWOOL products are manufactured in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly way.

This so-called Life Cycle Analysis quantifies the effects of a product on the environment at every stage of the product cycle - from the extraction of the raw materials, materials processing, production, distribution, use, repair and maintenance, up to and including waste processing or recycling. This is expressed as Global Warming Potential (GWP).
