In Beverwijk, the Netherlands, a new construction project is not allowed to discharge rainwater via the sewer system. The apartment building on De Brink with 94 sustainable, gasless homes will therefore be equipped with a Rockflow water buffer under the building and a water-buffering roof with stone wool elements under a sedum cover.
Platform 'Amsterdam Rainproof' has the aim of making Amsterdam resistant to the increasingly frequent downpours. The sustainable solution Rockflow helps Amsterdam to combat flooded streets and basements due to intense rainfall.
The playing field in Heel was located in a groundwater protection area, which presented a lot of challenge. Rockflow offered the solution here because a lot of storage can be created while you remain fairly close to ground level.
Rockflow water storage and infiltration system is applied in the municipality of Maasgouw (Limburg) under residential streets as a rainwater sewer. The municipality had previously successfully installed the Rockflow buffer system under playgrounds and parking lots.
Sweden also suffers with increasingly extreme rainfall in the summer. Hedemora, a town in a hilly landscape where rainwater has always found a natural way, is the first municipality in Sweden where the increasing flooding is counteracted with a Rockflow rainwater buffer.
Flooding occurs everywhere, including in schoolyards. In Schimmert, the problems with flooding in the schoolyard of the 'Kirkeveldsje' have been solved by applying Rockflow.
Rockflow tackled a too deep, too steep and difficult to maintain swale in Heel. Water that does not infiltrate quickly enough is led via the gully directly to the buffer from where it infiltrates into the subsoil.
Located in Limburg (NL), the village of Oirsbeek in the municipality of Schinnen is vulnerable to flooding due to large amounts of rainwater coming down from the steep slopes that surround it.
An enormous 'sponge' has been installed in Zevenaar for the large-scale urban renewal: the Rockflow water management system. This underground system collects rainwater and slowly returns it to the environment.
